Fire Resistant Ceiling and Wall Assemblies Using Gypsum Board Products (0BSP48-2)
Course Description:
This course provides an overview of fire resistant ceiling and wall assemblies using Gypsum boards, including the two primary ASTM standards that apply. It also addresses issues pertaining to fire-ratings that must be considered when constructing ceiling, wall, and column assemblies. Common construction issues pertaining to separation walls are also covered. The course then goes into detail regarding recommended practices that should be followed when designing, shipping and storing, specifying, and building with gypsum board.

- Describe the fire resistance properties of gypsum and gypsum boards Describe the methodology of the two primary ASTM standards related to fire-protection
- Describe the fire-rating issues related to the construction of noncombustible and combustible: wall assemblies, floor and ceiling assemblies, and column assemblies.
- Describe the construction issues related to area separation walls
- State some recommended practices with respect to: moisture-resistant gypsum board, shipping and storage procedures of gypsum board products, specifying gypsum products for construction, and building with gypsum products
