Course Description:

This course spotlights fiberglass mat-faced gypsum products, their applications and their advantages. The course will review how fiberglass mat-faced gypsum board: o Defends against weather conditions, o Improves the health, safety and welfare of any project and its occupants thanks to improved fire ratings and indoor air quality. Each product category in this presentation will have its unique ASTM standards. While all products specified in this presentation share common characteristics (fiberglass mat), benefits vary based upon the products application.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize basic characteristics of fiberglass mat-faced gypsum board, particularly related to moisture, mold, fire resistance and weather exposure
  • Identify the product standard for each of the fiberglass mat-faced gypsum board types: ? Sheathing ? Shaftliner ? Interior
  • Understand the benefits of fiberglass mat-faced gypsum board vs. conventional paper-faced gypsum board
  • Understand how fiberglass mat-faced gypsum board improves the health, safety and welfare of any project and its occupants through improved fire ratings and indoor air quality
  • Understand mold resistance testing and the rating standards
  • Identify the fire rating applications of these products
