Wallboard Finishing & Performance Corners (BSS74-1)
Course Description:
In this course, we will cover drywall finishing terminology, standards and installation procedures as they pertain to achieving aesthetic and performance goals when specifying. Additionally, we will discuss the advantages of specifying high-performance products that can help to maintain design integrity and minimize maintenance issues for building owners, as well as minimizing the architect's time in the field creating punch list items which lead to unnecessary construction administration hours for both architects and contractors.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the terms and products associated with drywall and corner finishing. Survey drywall corner technology evolution and the different options available
- Explain how drywall is finished. Review and understand all drywall finishing standards; compare the standards to each other
- Appreciate environmental and job site conditions that impact the final drywall finish and aesthetic outcomes. Learn the proper way to conduct a visual inspection to ensure the standards are met, particularly the
- Five Levels of Finish (GA-214-15)
- Know which products and standards to specify. Explain the financial impact of those specifications to owners in both up front and maintenance costs
