A Living Laboratory: Explore Saint-Gobain's North American Headquarters (1 LU) (BST01-2)
Course Description:
After more than 40 years in the same location, Saint-Gobain and its construction materials subsidiary, CertainTeed Corporation, moved into a new headquarters. The 65-acre campus has been retrofitted into a LEED platinum open plan commercial office. This tour will provide insight into the integrated design, construction, and operations of this best in class building.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe site, limitations, history and conditions, particularly selection of an existing suburban structure.
- Identify design elements intended to improve thermal comfort and indoor environmental quality, specifically acoustics, air quality, and natural day-lighting. Experience the open plan environment and how occupants are adapting.
- Understand how LEED certifications were achieved with particular exploration of the thermal and visual comforts of electrochromic glazing.
- Understand how the performance of the structure is being monitored and examined to continually enhance occupant experiences.
