In-Person and Webinar Preview - The Future of Building Materials and Their Impact on How We Build

The Future of Building Materials and Their Impact on How We Build (BSS56)

Course Description:

The course offers extensive information regarding healthcare facilities. Discussions will emphasize the building envelop and consider how moisture penetration prevention must be integrated into the design and performance. There will be further discussion regarding indoor air quality (IAQ) and ASHRAE standards 6.2 for acceptable air quality levels. Studies will reveal how acoustics and visual discomfort play an important role in recovery of patient treatment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify key components of IEQ and the important role they play in healing
  • Describe the building envelope system as a whole, and explain how materials selection and design details affect the environmental performance and sustainable design
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the conditions which promote mold growth in buildings and passive technologies which can influence their impact
  • Gain comprehension of the physics of volatile organic compounds and emerging technologies to help control their presence in Healthcare spaces
  • Explain the importance of acoustics on healing and the new solutions to improve
  • Explain the impact of vision on true healing and the technologies which will change the way we “look at” exterior walls
  • Identify emerging energy saving technologies to further expand the possibilities of new designs
