Principles of Attic Design (0BSP22)
Course Description:
A program designed to aid in the integration of components for moisture and thermal control that influence attic performance. Participants will understand the interrelationships between roofing, ventilation and insulation systems within an attic; how they interact and how they must be integrated into an efficient system.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the systematic approach architects and builders take when designing today’s homes
- Explain how attic ventilation works
- Describe some of the common problems that arise in poorly designed attics
- Discuss some of the considerations that should be taken into account when designing an attic
- Describe the importance of insulation for the attic system, and some of the types of ventilation materials available
- Describe the importance of ventilation for the attic system
- Describe some of the roof system requirements that need to be incorporated into designs for integrated attic systems
