Acoustical Ceilings for the Eye, the Ear and the Mind (EC0004)
Course Description:
This course provides an overview of the principals of sound attenuation and light reflectance. Learners will be introduced to subjects such as, the Noise reduction coefficient. Further discussion will introduce the main properties of acoustical ceilings, their function and performance and how acoustical performance is related to health concerns.
Learning Objectives:
- How to calculate the Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) when determining the acoustical performance of a product
- Compare acoustical products as they relate to absorption and frequency
- Compare the Luminous Reflectance Factor of Acoustical panels in order to specify sustainable work environments
- Identify minimum content of substances harmful to the environment or human health when selecting acoustical panels
- Analyze how acoustics is an integral component of health related issues within health care facilities, schools, and places of business
