Designing with Synthetic Slate Roofing Tiles (BSP711)
Course Description:
A program that provides an overview of design using synthetic slate roofing tiles.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe some of the plusses and minuses of three kinds of premium tiles according to relevant criteria
- Explain in overview terms each of the five steps in the process of producing synthetic slate tiles, and describe how each step affects the final properties of the product.
- Describe some of the developments that have led to the evolution of these two aspects of synthetic slate tiles: color stability and tile shape stability.
- Explain key aspects of the installation process including:
- How it is affected by the tile’s construction and packaging
- The slope of the roof
- The underlayment
- The importance of key roof accessories
- Explain some of the green performance attributes of synthetic tiles
- Describe some of the key clauses in the standard warranty
