In-Person and Webinar Preview - Measuring Healthy Buildings: Modes, Methods, and Meaning for Discovery and Practice

Measuring Healthy Buildings: Modes, Methods, and Meaning for Discovery and Practice (CM19-5)

Course Description:

This course presents the background and results from a unique study of how high-performing buildings can impact the outcomes for their occupants. A large sample group of professionals of diverse functions were studied as they performed their tasks and lived their work lives in two distinct office environments. Physical measurements combined with survey responses were used to provide comparison and impact. This course provides participants with the human and business impacts of moving a corporation from an outdated and inefficient facility to a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient and environmentally-sustainable building designed with the occupant in mind.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of longitudinal studies and pre- and post-occupancy evaluation protocols to measure the impact of buildings on their occupants.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the occupant comfort study conducted at a newly constructed North American corporate headquarters.
  • Learn more about how building material and systems selection plays a crucial role in improving occupant comfort and well-being.
  • Discover how a systems-based approach and assessment protocols were utilized in the design of a LEED Platinum-rated commercial office building.
